About the press
An independent press for the curious.
Flashlife publishes books about the things people build and the world we share.
Flashlife makes books that take curiosity seriously. We're interested in how real things work — the machines, systems and ideas people create to solve problems and bring us closer together — and in telling those stories plainly, warmly and honestly.
We're a young house, and we're starting where the sense of wonder starts: with books for the youngest readers. Our first list is the Big Things children's series. Over time we intend to publish more broadly — for readers of different ages and across different subjects — while keeping the same point of view.
What we care about
- Curiosity — how things actually work, never dumbed down and never oversold.
- Useful technology — the human-made machines and systems that quietly make life better.
- Creativity — books that invite readers to make something of their own, not just consume.
- Building together — teamwork, care and craft, and the many hands behind big results.
Through concrete stories rather than slogans, our books lean toward optimism, responsibility, kindness, thoughtfulness and graciousness. We keep our tone welcoming and nonpartisan.
How our books are made and sold
Flashlife titles are printed on demand and sold through Amazon, which handles orders, printing and delivery. This website is a publisher's showcase — you'll always buy the actual books from Amazon, not from us.
